SMART stands for Self-Management and Recovery Training. Participants attend meetings which are ideally peer led but at times professionally led. Individuals learn new tools and techniques which can support a change of behaviour and thinking. The meetings are confidential and structured. Participation at the meetings is voluntary and there is no pressure to speak.
The meetings revolve around a 4 point program:
- Managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours
- Live a balanced life
- Cope with urges
- Build and maintain motivation
