Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture Treatment
A free service for those affected by drug & alcohol issues. This treatment reduces withdrawal symptoms, cravings and stress & anxiety.
Auricular Acupuncture is the stimulation of acupuncture points on the surface of the ear. The practical application of acupuncture in substance misuse treatment evolved at New York’s Lincoln Hospital in the 1970’s.
It was found that there were consistent benefits from using a five point treatment approach. It is an effective treatment for any substance used. The treatment will help with the following symptoms:
- Headaches
- Body Aches
- Sweats
- Sleep Disturbances
- Tremors
- Anxiety
- Depression
In addition Auricular Acupuncture also:
- Helps to reduce cravings for alcohol and other drugs
- Promotes recovery by stabilizing both physical and emotional health bringing clarity and focus
- Effective for aftercare treatment and relapse prevention
Acupuncture is a silent therapy which encourages relaxation and each session gives the body time to heal from the inside.
The treatment helps to rebuild the physical and emotional self.
We provide this treatment to MELD clients and anyone accessing other substance misuse related services. Please speak to your worker if you would like to be referred.
Acupuncture will restart in February 2022 at the Starfish cafe on Wednesdays. Please get in touch for more details.
